HARRIET- The Movie Review

I’m usually not a movie person, but with all that has been going on in the world, I have been educating myself about some heroes of the past, one of this is Harriet Araminta Tubman AKA Moses. This movie is based on her story…

Before I go into the deets of this movie, here’s a preview of it…

This is a movie based on a true story of a woman who defied all odds and did what so many wouldn’t dare. For me, that is the most amazing thing! The fact that it was based on a true story. 😩😍

Harriet was played by award winning British Actress Cynthia Erivo, who is of the Nigerian descent if I may add.. 🤭🤭

Erivo acted the role of Harriet in the most commendable way, that would make you forget that she was just a character and not the actual Harriet😏

The movie gives an insight of the laudable roles that this Hero abolitionist, Harriet Tubman played during the dreadful slavery times in America, the civil war and even after Slavery.

I am trying hard not to give away any spoilers, but I can give a brief summary of the movie.

Harriet was a brave and witty slave girl who ran away and by the leading of God, whom she believed in with all her heart, she got away and became a terror to slave masters in the South…. She was called moses for a reason😉

I must state that there are some minor variations in the movie from the actual history, as well as additional fictional Characters such as Marie Buchanan, but still it gives an overall view of the story of Harriet. I believe some of these Characters were created in an attempt to fill unknown gaps.

Coming from me, who is absolutely not a movie person, (I’m weary of angst guys.. Don’t judge me.. I prefer all fluff🙄)…. You need to take this one seriously. This is one movie I strongly recommend. It is packed with everything and suitable for all ages in my opinion… (its rated PG-13)… But children still watch Avengers, so this shouldn’t be a problem at all.

It is also suitable for people of all background and races. A history that should never be forgotten!

Certainly a must watch.
