Kuroi had expected the prince’s death to be swift and silent. However, when the angry voice of the giant yelled for his men to keep attacking, her eyes flew open, and she could not believe the sight before her. At least half of the mob had been defeated by the prince. She watched as a blinding light from the prince’s sword pierced through the dark mob, defeating any that dared get close to him. Even Petros, the prince’s knight did nothing but stay out of the prince’s way, as he single-handedly won the battle.
She heard Zebub yell to his master that the prince would have less power if he got taken into the underworld and that seemed to give the giant a wicked idea. He swiftly turned to her and grabbed her violently by the neck.
“Cease your attacks at once, Prince Zova or I shall kill your beloved.” The giant commanded. Kuroi was certain the threat would hold no grounds with the prince since she had betrayed him a few moments earlier to save herself. However, to her utmost surprise, he did as he was told. By this time, there were only about a dozen enemy standing.
“Do not harm her!” Prince Zova said desperately, holding up his weapon. Kuroi was stricken in amazement, as she could not comprehend why he would do such a foolish thing for her. Even if his tale was true, there were certainly more trustworthy women deserving of such unconditional love.
“Surrender yourself and I shall free her.” The giant ordered, and the prince did so without hesitation. He threw his sword to the ground and raised his hands in surrender. The few remaining of the enemy mob immediately began to attack him, but he did not retaliate. Instead, he kept asking for Aisa to be released causing Kuroi to weep even more bitterly.
The giant pushed her carelessly to the ground and laughed horrifyingly. He suddenly began to transform into the most monstrous-looking being in the likeness of a six-headed red dragon. Kuroi was terrified as she realised that Zebub’s master was the underworld king. It made the prince’s story more credible, and she rued not believing him in the castle.
“Petros, take Aisa and protect her whilst I’m gone!” Prince Zova commanded, even as he got violently beaten by his attackers.
“Why? Why would you give yourself up for someone like me?” Kuroi cried out to him as tears flowed like a river down her face.
“Because I love you. Aisa, I have loved you with an everlasting love and shall never cease loving you.” He responded smiling even though he was bleeding all over. Before he could say any more, the monster spoke.
“I, Diablo, King of the underworld, shall be taking Prince Zova as a trade for the life of his foolish beloved whom I have now successfully deceived twice. Now prince, do not you dare defend yourself or retaliate! I possess the master gem and the life-gem of your beloved and shall happily take her to the underworld if you do not do as I command.” The dragon said laughing. One of his heads turned to Kuroi and spoke. “Today is your lucky day, lowly fool. I shall return the memories I took, so you may suffer guilt as you realise your betrayal.” With these words, he opened a portal to the underworld.
