Unconditionally Beloved. Pt 5 (daily post)

Kuroi gasped in shock at the words of Zebub’s master. There was no way she could prove that she was not privy to the man’s plan. She looked from the man to the prince and was surprised that he remained unfazed by the man’s words.

“You should know that death is the price for such treasonous words.” He responded in a calm but deathly tone Kuroi had never heard. She had grown so accustomed to his soft way of speaking to her that she almost forgot he was the crown prince, with authority over the kingdoms of Salem.

The giant man smiled. “Even If I am to die for treason, do not think I shall die alone. I shall take your foolish beloved with me as my accomplice.”

“No!” Kuroi cried out in surprise at his accusation and turned to the prince. “I swear to you, that I knew nothing of his plans. In truth, it is the first time I am meeting him, for I spoke in the past to him through this man.” She explained pointing to Zebub.

“I believe you, Aisa.” The prince said to her, not in the fierce tone he had used a moment before, but in his usual gentle tone. She gazed at him in astonishment, unable to comprehend what sort of love he held for her that even in such circumstances he still chose to show her kindness. “There is only one thing to do, and that is to finish off this traitor of the kingdom, here and now.” He declared, unsheathing the sword at his side.

The giant laughed at this and clapped once. Suddenly, several men and all sorts of beings Kuroi had never seen, began to surround them. She could not tell from wherever they came from, but they were soon surrounded by no less than a thousand of them.

“Come Kuroi, my lowly servant, I shall kill the prince and his knight here, but I shall spare you, for I know you shall be useful to me in my plans for the future.” The giant man offered. Kuroi began to tremble in fear knowing she was the cause of the unpleasant situation they were in. She also knew that Prince Zova and Petros did not stand a chance against the enemy and did not wish to die. After all the hardship she had endured, the promised treasure chest was the only hope she had of living a good life before she died and went to the underworld of eternal damnation. With it, she could at least buy a house and live well till she died in old age.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered and left Prince Zova’s side to stand beside the giant.

“You traitorous wretch!” Petros yelled, looking like he would attack her, but was halted by the prince.

“As I have told you, Petros, you must not speak to my beloved in such manner. Surely, you do not expect her trust so easily when she has not truly known me.” He turned to her and smiled. “Do not worry, Aisa. I forgive you.” Petros looked outraged, but again he restrained himself and took a step back.

Kuroi could not contain her tears at the words of Prince Zova. Even in the face of her betrayal, he still looked upon her with love, nor did he judge her for her actions. She was going to ask his forgiveness. But the roaring voice of the giant man drowned hers.

“Kill them!” he commanded.

Kuroi shut her eyes, unwilling to watch as the only person who had ever shown her true love, got slayed because of her foolishness.
