“Prince Zova.” Aisa called disbelievingly. She could not fathom that he was truly standing before her.
“Yes, Aisa, it is I,” he said gently, stretching his hand to her. She reached out to take it but swiftly pulled back her hand.
“No! I am not worthy to be called Aisa anymore. I shall remain Kuroi, for even as a beggar, I had more worth than the traitor I am.”
“Aisa, I do not need you to be worthy, to love you. I chose to love you regardless of what you’ve done or what you’ll do in the future. All I desire is your heart, Aisa. I want you to choose me, as I have done you.”
“I do not know how you can love such a wretch like me, but this time, I shall take you at your word. How could I not give you my heart after all you’ve done? I wish to give you my heart, my soul, my life.” She declared tearfully.
“That, Aisa, is all I needed to hear! Now we can be betrothed, till my father gives a date of his choosing, for our wedding.” Prince Zova said as he touched her face warmly, reassuring her, that it was neither a dream nor a trance.
“But how could this be? I saw you taken to the underworld.”
“Yes, I was, but it was all a part of Father’s perfect plan. He sent Kletos to pull me out of the underworld.” Aisa’s eyes widened in astonishment. Kletos was a being formed from the king’s essence and was said to have the same power as the king of Salem, whose power knew no bounds.
“But how could He still accept me despite all I have done?”
“It is because when he chose to love you, it was without any conditions. There is nothing you could do that could stop either of us from loving you. Even after you were deceived, Father came up with a plan to restore you in a way in which you shall never again be defeated by the enemy. He even ensured you were safe when you were out of the palace. He watched over you protectively, and that was why you were able to escape all the dangerous situations you faced. He ensured Diablo never took you to the underworld, till he created a foolproof plan to retrieve the master life-gem and rescue many others who did not deserve to be trapped in the underworld.
“What is this plan you speak of?” Aisa questioned curiously.
“Do you not see it? All that has happened, every detail was a part of the plan to get back what was lost and to restore you to your rightful place beside me. Diablo thought he had deceived you again, but it was he who was deceived. He acted according to plan, including taking me to the underworld, where I triumphantly defeated him in the presence of his men. I was able to claim not only the master -gem but also, all other gems that he had previously stolen. Hence, I could also rescue all he had wrongfully captured.
In the final part of my father’s plan, he placed the master life-gem in Kletos, who can replicate this gem. With the defeat of Diablo and the retrieval of the gem, the barrier that separated the inner kingdom from the outer kingdom has been removed. Now anyone who wishes to have the life-gem that lasts forever will come to me and I will grant it to them just as I have you. They will also have the replicated power of Kletos and will be able to bring their petitions directly to the king. Diablo will no longer wield any power over those who have Kletos. I will do this beginning with you. So instead of entrusting you with one life-gem and making you a target for danger. It has been given to Kletos who can replicate it and will always be with you.”
Aisa felt all her guilt dissipate. It was replaced by peace, joy, and a most potent love for the prince. She was amazed at such boundless love that the prince had. She threw herself into his open arms, tears of joy streaming down her face.
“I love you with everlasting love, my dearly beloved,” The prince said again, reassuringly, and for the first time, Aisa, the betrothed of the prince of Salem, believed his words with all her heart!
