How to Stop Being Busy Doing Nothing! (Living a Fulfilled Life Daily)

I am aware of how idle everyone can get at some point in life and how easy it is to get busy doing nothing and hardly getting anything done in a day. I’ll introduce you to how I make my day worth living and how I go to sleep daily feeling fulfilled because of how much I achieved in the day. Here are some key points that can help you have a better day filled with achievements.

Have a to-do list

There is a popular saying that ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail’ that statement is 100-percent accurate. Having things planned out is the Perfect Foundation to have any fulfilled day and achieve your goals. It could be written in a portable book or on your phone, but you have to set a structure for your day by writing out the things you could achieve in the day. That way, you can measure what you’ve done and you’ll be less likely to forget your plans. Even if you don’t work or you have nothing to do, it is time for you to learn something new. All you need to do is look up something you’re interested in and create a plan to learn more about that thing, then let that plan be reflected in your to-do list you’ll be surprised how structured your day will become.

Set achievable goals

While you’re thinking big, start small. Remember, it is little drops that make mighty oceans. While you might want to achieve something big speedily, you will discover that the cumulative effort of your little daily achievements will turn out to be easier and more productive than doing big things all at once. It is therefore wise to try breaking down that big goal into small achievable plans with which you can make progress daily. For example, if you’re trying to learn a language. It will be way more difficult to learn it all in one day, as compared to learning it daily. So while the main goal is learning that language, you can begin to work on it daily and at the end of the year, you’ll find yourself speaking like a native.

Set SMART goals

My mentor taught me this one. Although i had heard it in the past, i never really paid attention to it, but after my mentor told me about it, and I began to apply it to my short term and long-term goals I noticed the massive improvements in my goal achievements
S. M. A. R. T. = Specific Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time bound.
Whenever you’re setting a goal think of these words and consider if they have these elements. This way you will realistically begin to measure the achievements of your specific goals in good timing.

Ensure your daily goals reflect your weekly, monthly and yearly goals.

In this case, you might have a goal you want to achieve by the end of the year. It’s your cumulative monthly efforts that could lead to your achieving that particular goal. You’ll have to break it into monthly goals, which are also broken into weekly goals, and further into daily goals. These could be done employing the SMART elements

Ensure your goals are grouped on their levels of importance and urgency.
A wise mentor of mine taught me on how to achieve more important and urgent goals using a quadrant, based on importance and urgency. So far it has helped me achieve my major goals in the right timing, while still achieving the minor ones. The diagram below describes this perfectly.

Let your daily todo list reflect this order.

Engage in a work and reward system.

one major way to ensure that you achieve your goals This could be rewarding yourself with something you love but have denied yourself till you achieve your goals. For example, if you love browsing through social media a lot, you could deny yourself that pleasure till you finish your goals.

The benefits of setting a structure to your day cannot be overestimated. Once there is a structure, there will be an easy flow for success. It brings order to your daily life, which in turn brings order to your week, month, year decade…. Order brings increase and also creates a channel for success.
A wise man once said that the secret of successful people is in their routine. Create a good routine today and begin your journey to success!
