Finding Balance

Hello beautiful people,

So this post has been pressed upon my heart lately by the Holy Spirit, it’s all I’ve tweeted about recently, and I pray God confirms His word. Find me on twitter @fisayoade_

Will try to make this post as short as possible. This post is directed at a believer with an active relationship with God. Maybe you made a mistake, you can’t get past it? you’re angry at yourself because you feel ‘know better ‘. You’re sorry, you feel terrible, you asked for forgiveness a hundred times but you still don’t feel good about yourself, it makes you feel the need to stay away from God for a while because you think he’s still mad at you. You believe time will somehow fix what you’ve done but it doesn’t.

Be reminded that the Holy Spirit does not condemn you. He convicts you of your sin unto repentance. He doesn’t want running away from the One you need the most.

Whatever condemns you is not of God

You may ask yourself some of these questions;

If I am in Christ? Why then do I feel condemned? What can I do to stop the feeling of guilt and shame? How do I know I’m truly forgiven ? I’ll share a few ways you can get over the guilt of sin, some of which have helped me but first let me say this;

You don’t need to feel forgiven, you just need to know it. In due time your feelings will catch up.

How then do I deal with this feeling ? :

Repent of your sins

Stop regretting and get on your knees. If you truly are sorry, that’s the most logical thing to do.

Talk to a trusted friend

I was tweeting the other day that what you do after you fall into sin is very important because at that point you’re very vulnerable. What do you do when you fall? Do you go silent on God? Or do you fall on your knees and repent immediately? Who can you talk to? Who can speak into your life and pray with you? Who can encourage you without judging you? This is not the time to isolate yourself. Stay around like minded people, people who can encourage your walk with God.

Listen to songs of how much God loves you

I remember one time, I found myself in deep seated shame and guilt, I couldn’t get myself to talk to God. I felt so terrible, and I remember my friend, who’s currently my boyfriend sent a bunch of Christian songs specifically on the love of God. For that season of my life, that was all I listened to until God’s love was all I could think about. It changed the whole game. Nothing, if the Bible said “nothing” then that’s it. Nothing can

separate us from the love of God.

Bible verse

Pray and study daily

The reason we probably fall into sin is because of our indiscipline. Maybe you stopped spending time with God like you used to. This is the time to really sit at your Father’s feet and show him you’re serious about living a godly life. Study about what Christ did for you, learn about Gods love. The key is never to stop because it always gets deeper with God.

Ask the holy spirit for help

He’s our helper, there’s no way you can live a godly and fulfilling life without the help of the holy spirit. As a believer, the holy spirit is with you but if you do not acknowledge his presence or even talk to him, he’s not going to interfere in your life because He’s a gentle spirit. Make up your mind to talk to him daily, ask him for help. I started talking to the holy spirit deliberately last year, I write in my prayer journal ” dear sweet holy spirit” and I tell him everything, even things I cannot tell my closest friends, I talk to him about it. He can teach you how to live a life pleasing to God.

Stop ignoring the holy spirit.

Since its Easter season, let this season be a reminder of what Jesus did for you, soak your self in the kind of love that gives its life up for you. Read about it, watch videos on it, listen to songs about it, and accept his forgiveness and mercy. God loves you very much, it can never be overrated.

Thank you for reading. Kindly leave a comment if this blessed you.
